The official opening date of Toy Story Mania’s third track at Disney’s Hollywood Studios doesn’t officially open until 27th May – but a soft opening yesterday made a massive difference to waiting times.
Anyone who has had the misfortune of queueing for this ride without FasPass+ will know that camping equipment, oxygen and a day’s worth of food were needed just to stay alive in the queue. But no more, as Toy Story Mania is now officially a three-track ride.
The new section of track is located in Soundstage 1, which has never really had a meaningful, permanent attraction of its own.
Once the new Toy Story Land has opened, the entrance to Toy Story Mania will move to the back of the attraction. But for now, the original queue system forks off to the doorway of the third track and the stairs up to the two original tracks.
The new track only has one side, so guests must get on and off trains on the same side. And, rather disappointingly, there’s no bridge over the track – which is the highlight of the wait for many.
Anecdotal evidence from Walt Disney World Guests suggests that new track has made an immediate difference to waiting times – which used to reach as long as 150 minutes at peak times.
This is fantastic news for Hollywood Studios, which is currently half closed at the minute. Let’s hope the Disney Imagineers can add a new tower to the Hollywood Tower of Terror next time.
