Walt Disney World offers a wide range of delicacies across its four parks and various resorts, but one of the things it excels in is ice cream. So rejoice… Ample Hills Creamery at Disney’s Boardwalk is now open – and it looks magical.
You’ll find this high-end ice cream shop in the former ESPN arcade, which is right next door to the Boardwalk Bakery.
The original shop is located in Brooklyn, New York, and was founded by a married couple. It just so happened that CEO of Disney Bob Iger was a regular at the New York store. A licence to sell ‘Star Wars ice cream’ was followed with an invitation to open a store on the Walt Disney World property.
Bright, airy and packed with character, the Ample Hills Creamery is the perfect addition to Boardwalk. There are two separate serving counters, so queues shouldn’t be a problem. And while there isn’t any indoor seating, you can simply wander outside and eat while you walk.
There are always at least 10 flavours of ice cream available, and a few of them tend to change every few weeks. Opt for a cone or cup, and then decide whether you want to go large or small. There is also a wide selection of toppings to choose from. Whatever you choose, you can revel in the fact that every ice cream is handmade with organic milk from grass-fed cows.
Among the flavours to choose from on opening were
- Ample Hills (orange, chocolate and marshmallow)
- Ooey Gooey Butter Cake
- Butter Pecan Brittle
- Strawberries and Cream
- Peppermint Pattie
Oh, and if that’s not exciting enough, you can create your own sundae.
